restaurant prices. You can
eat equally well here for
half the dollars spent in
other large cities.
"Where can you go when
you're dining out on a budg-
et?"
First of all, it's best. to go
with a group so that you can
sample each others' dishes.
Recently, we and another
couple set sail for a progres-
sive dinner — very informal
— lots of fun.
The Sheik was our first
stop for appetizers (de-
licious taboulee), then to the
Soup Kitchen Saloon for mu-
sic and would you believe.
soup? The next pit stop was
Jacoby's — since 1904 — one
of our's and just about
everyone's favorite home
away from home. There we
feasted on sauerbraten and
tender perch — truly a four-
star meal.
Dessert was rich and racy
at the Traffic Jam and
Snug, then it was all stops
go — the grand finale — at
the Dakota Inn Rathskeller,
for pitchers of beer, rowdy
group singing, and many
laughs.
The food per person came
to around $9; with tips and
booze it was boosted to
roughly $14 for more than
six hours of great fun.
