will be the synagogue's
guest at an informal lunch-
eon hosted by the sister-
hood. Luncheon is free, but
reservations are required.
Following luncheon, Rab-
bi Goodman will engage in
dialogue with the group, re-
sponding to questions based
on his morning talk.
At 11 a.m. Jan. 22, Rabbi
Goodman will address a
joint session of the Men's
Club Breakfast Forum and
the Bar and Bat Mitzva
Club on "Separation of
Church and State — Illusion
or Reality?" The program
is open to both men and
women of the community,
and is free of charge.
The weekend will begin
with a Friday evening oneg
Shabat for the congrega-
tion's Migdal Tzion United
Synagogue Youth Chapter
at the home of Rabbi and
Mrs. Seymour Rosenbloom,

Bloomfield.
Rabbi Goodman was
graduated from the City
College of New York and
was ordained at the Jewish
Theological Seminary of
America. He holds a law
degree from De Paul Uni-
versity and was admitted to
the bar in Illinois and Is-
rael.

at YI of Greenfield

Young Israel of Green-
field will hold its second
annual movie night and ice
cream social 8:30 p.m. Sat-
urday in the synagogue.
The film, "The Mad Ad-
ventures of Rabbi Jacob,"
will be presented. There is a
nominal charge.

SZ Nursery Plans
Parents' Program

The Cong. Shaarey Zedek
Beth Hayeled (nursery) will
conduct a program for par-
ents 8:30 p.m. Jan. 24 in the
youth lounge in the syna-
gogue.
The program will feature
the film, "Don't Go with
Strangers," followed by a
discussion of the movie with
child psychologist Dr. Joel
Cohen, Lt. Robinson of the
Oakland County Task Force
and Officer Ron Valesano of
the Southfield Police Force.
Future programs will cov-
er "Children's Questions
about God and Death,"
"Children's Behavior, - and
"Creative Activities for the
Young Child." A Shabat din-
ner also is planned.

Rabbi Aids Return
of Hungary Crown

WASHINGTON (JTA )—
Rabbi Arthur Schneier,
president of the Appeal of
Conscience Foundation and
spiritual leader of the Park
East Synagogue in New
York, was a member of the
Presidential delegation to
the ceremony com-
memorating the return of
the Crown of St. Stephen in
Budapest, Hungary.

chaplain to the British
Army Expeditionary Forces
in France during World War
II, he witnessed the horrors
of the Holocaust and was
cited for "extraordinary
achievements in maintain-
ing the morale of serv-
icemen under battle" during
the evacuation of Dunkirk.
Director of the Jewish Na-
tional Fund and the United
Palestine Appeal of Great
Britain from 1944 to 1947, he
gained wide acclaim as a
speaker and lectured exten-
sively. He was appointed
World Director of Organiza-
tions for the Hebrew Uni-
versity and assumed the
vice presidency of the uni-
versity in 1968.
Dr. Cherrick recently re-
ceived an Honorary Docto-
rate of Letters degree from
Northern Michigan Univer-
sity.
