Esther Chapnicit

Esther Chapnick, a
mer teacher, social wo,_
interested in Jewish hu-inan-
itarian causes, including So-
viet Jewry, died Jan. 7 at
age 67.
Born in Poland, Mrs.
Chapnick lived 57 years in
Detroit. She was graduated
from Wayne State Univer-
sity. Mrs, Chapnick--was a
life member of Hadassah
and the Labor Zionist Al-
liance. She was active for
many years in the Zionist
movement.
Mrs. Chapnick was a lead-
ing participant in the De-
troit Reading Circles. An
avid reader with deep devo-
tion to Jewish cultural and
Israeli interests, she often
expressed her views in let-
ters to newspapers. She re-
sided at 29636 Middlebelt,
Farmington Hills.
She is survived by her
husband, Dr. Henry A.; a
son, Jerome S.; a daughter,
Mrs. Sidney (Liela ) Brode
of Shaker Heights, Ohio; a
brother, Rabbi Maurice Co-
hen of New York City; four
sisters, Mrs. Jack (Celia)
Simon, Mrs. Rose Buchhal-
ter,. Mrs. Louis (Dora) Sil-
verfarb and Mrs. Walter
(Betty) Fishman; and five
grandchildren.

Harry J. Gold

Harry J. Gold, a real es-
tate broker and presi-
dent of Benjamin Rich Real
Estate for more than 50
years, died Jan. 8.
Born in Poland, Mr. Gold
was a member of the City of
Hope and Pisgah Lodge of
Bnai Brith.
He leaves his wife, Rose;
three sons, Sanford, Ray-
mond of Miami Beach, Fla.,
and Mark; a daughter, Mrs.
Greg (Joyce) Studen of
Cleveland, Ohio; a brother,
Irving of California; a sis-
ter, Mrs. Shirley Robin-
' son; and nine, grar, d-
children. '

Ethel G. Goodman

Ethel Gitlin Goodman, a
former operating officer of -
the Royal Textile Co. of
Detroit, died Jan. 6 at age
82.
Born in Russia, Mrs.
Goodman was a member of
Temple Beth El and its sis-
terhood, Women's American
ORT, Hadassah and the
Brandeis University Nation-
al Women's Committee
Detroit Chapter.
She leaves three sisters,
Mrs. Nathan (Eva) Schiff,
Lillian Gitlin of New York
and Mrs. Florence Camden;
nieces and nephews.
