A.J. Cutler Chair in Tal-
mudic Studies at Bar-Ilan
University in Ramat Gan
was founded and Maurice
Axelrod, financial adviser,
supplemented the contribu-
tion with a $50,000 gift to
perpetuate A.J. Cutler
scholarships at Bar-Ilan.
Another major contribu-
tion is a gift for the planting
of a Cutler Jewish National
Fund forest of 60,000 trees
on JNF land in Israel. Sub-
stantial gifts have been pro-
vided for the American Can-
cer Society. the American
Friends of Hebrew Univer-
sity, Brandeis University,
the Jewish Theological Sem-
inary of America. Yeshiva
University, the Rabbi Kapl-
an Torah Center of Chicago
and other causes. _
Cutler is a member of
Adat Shalom Synagogue
Downtown Lodge of Bnai
Brith and other local organi-
zations.
Dr. John J. Mames is
chairman of Michigan Re-
gion, American Red Magen
David for Israel. Cutler will
be presented with a Distin-
guished Humanitarian
Achievement Award.

ed director of public affairs
for Bnai Brith.

name its audio-visual lan-
guage center after Cutler
"in appreciation for his ef-
forts on behalf of the univer-
sity." The center will house
four language laboratories
and two recording studios.
The A.J. Cutler chair in
Jewish history is being es-
tablished at Ben-Gurion
University of the Negev.
Technion is planning an A.J.
Cutler garden in the fam-
ily's honor. Perpetual schol-
arships are being created
for the Weizmann Institute
of Science at Rehovot and
the Hebrew University in
Jerusalem.
