Christian Donates to Campaign

Mr. and Mrs. Bernie
(Lois) Morrison of South-
field have been forwarding
small donations from a
Christian customer to the
Allied Jewish Campaign—
Israel Emergency Fund.
The Morrisons own Fa-
mous Men's Wear in
Plymouth, and six months
ago an elderly customer ap-
proached Morrison and

some money to the Jewish
people.
Morrison explained about
the Allied Jewish Campaign
and the man gave him a
worn-out $5 bill. The elderly
customer has come in sev-
eral times to contribute to
the Campaign.
Last week, while Mrs.
Morrison was working at
the store the man came in
and said, "It's Christmas
and I must think of others.
Your people are having a
rough time in Israel and I
want to do what I can to
help."
He handed Mrs. Morrison
a worn, folded $10 bill.
Mrs. Morrison said that
the customer is a poor than,
"but I think he is rich and
special."

the offer saying he "felt a

Detroiter Recalls
Allenby Incident

The 60th anniversary of
the capture of Jerusalem
from the Turks by British
Gen. Edmund Allenby,
noted in the Dec. 9 issue of
The Jewish News, has re-
minded a Detroiter of an
historical incident involving
Gen. Allenby and a member
of her family.
According to Mrs. Edith
Posner of Oak Park, as
Gen. Allenby was about to
enter the city of Jerusalem
through the Jaffa Gate, he
dismounted his horse and
went in to the city on foot,
as a gesture of reverence.
However, it was to Mrs.
Posner's brother, James
Michael Stone, of the Brit-
ish Royal Field Artillery,
that Allenby handed the
reins of his horse.
Mrs. Posner recalls that
her brother related the in-
cident to his fmaily in
Leeds, England, after his
discharge from the Egyp-
tian Expeditionary Force.
