The Best of Everything

(Continued from Page 26)
months there were as a bus-
boy)...but he has a couple of
the best requisites needed
toward becoming a real
good one...Winning smile to
go with his pleasant person-
ality.
SUN RAY Natural Foods
Restaurant on Mound Rd.
between 13 and 14, is
small...but probably one of
the best of those serving
foods prepared free from
chemical additives...More
than one "get rich quick"
place falsely lays claim to
being a fully natural foods
restaurant.
PROJECTION DATE for
the new Buddy's Pizza on
Northwestern and 12 (prop-
erty bought by owners Billy
and son Bob Jacobs-is one
site of that little white
house), has been targeted
for Nov. 17 of next
year...although Jan. of 1979
would be more realistic.
As at the Buddy's Pizza
on McNichols and Conant,
bocci ball will be most
prominent... even much
more so at the new locale.
HOTEL MANAGER now
at the 172-room Kingsley
Inn is Bruce Salinger, son of
Carol and Seymour Sali-
nger.
RESTAURANTS WHO
USE cheap or inferior book
matches endanger their cus-
tomers...Unlucky folks ei-
ther burn themselves or get
so frustrated they can't en-
joy their meal.
ADD THE NAME of Bon-
nie Kirsche to your list of
waitresses who know how to
smile while serving custom-
ers...Bonnie works at Chuck
Joseph's Place For Steak on
Grand River, and is a most
personable and efficient
waitress, also.
Chuck expects to open his
second location in Berkley
at 12 and Coolidge, about
the third week of January
or thereabouts.

IF YOU LIKE potato lat-
kes like the days of yeste-
ryears, ask Ed Goldberg for
his recipe...they're
great...During Hanuka, Ed
went into the kitchen at
Jakks, had fresh potatoes
and onions grated by
hand...and fried in a
pan...not deep-fried...We
could eat Ed's latkes all
night!
QUOTE...from Ole Chris-
tiansen, food and beverage
director at Hotel Pontchart-
rain..."People don't know
what they paid for a good
meal, but they'll tell you to
the penny what they paid
for a bad one."
GEZA LANG, long mus-
tachio'd Budapest chef, has
come out of retirement to
do Sammy Lieberman's
cooking at Town & Country
Club...Geza was with Sam-
my 25 years.
GRECIAN PALACE on
Telegraph and 10 Mile in
Tel-Ex Shopping Plaza, is
under new ownership as of a
month ago...It is now owned
by two sisters, Roula Merry
and Zanna Kiafoulis.
MAIL DEPT..."After
reading your column about
the waitress who poured
back the coffee after two
people said they didn't want
any, I had to speak up. I
sometimes go in for a snack
to the Northgate Delicates-
sen on 10 Mile and Green-
field, and they have two
waitresses by the name of
Yetta and Lottie worth men-
tioning. In these days when
the customer is . no longer
right, they are with them. I
have observed these two
girls, not only efficient and
with a smile, making sure
to please you, but all em-
ployees in the restaurant
are so pleasant and so coop-
erative it's unbelievable.
And the owner is a beautiful
person with his employees
who love him...Lillian Re-
becca Willis.

Dubinsky Re-Elected at UlA

NEW YORK — Melvin
Dubinsky of St. - Louis was
re-elected to his sixth term
as chairman of the United
Israel Appeal at the recent
annual meeting of trustees.
Officers re-elected were:
Mrs. Charlotte_ Jacobson
and Frank R. Lautenberg,
vice chairmen; Jack D.
Weiler, treasurer; Morris
D. Levinson, secretary,
Max. M. Fisher, honorary
chairman; Irving Kessler,
executive vice chairman,
and Harold Goldberg, comp-
troller.

New trustees from Detroit
included Dr. Leon Fill, Mrs.
Norman H. Rosenfeld, Mrs.
D. Lawrence Sherman and
Paul Zuckerman.
Dubinsky pledged contin-
ued service by the United
Israel Appeal in supervising
the expenditure of funds
raised by the communities
and allocated to the United
Jewish Appeal for the work
of the Jewish Agency for
Israel.
No man in the world loves
one more than one's father.

NEW NAME OF Lenny's
Deli makes it number four
at the Orchard Lake north
of 13 Mile site...Sol's, Shel's,
Eliot's previously...Owners
recently taking over are
Lenny Fidler and nephew
Richard Ziegler.
BEVERLY SHINDEL,
dental hygenist and
songstress, and hubby
David like to travel...eating
the food of the country they
visit...Worst to them is
English food in
England...Best is Israeli
food in Israel.
LUNCH WAITRESS Nan-
cy Kolbe at Carl's, Grand
River, has been there 11
years and claims to have
eaten everything that's ever
been on the menu through-
out the years she has been
there...At least this is what
she told us when we asked
what was good and how
then did she know it was.
After inquiry as to what
the soup of the day was,
Nancy looked into space and
said, "Chicken soup from
yesterday and mushroom
barley from today."
Carl's is one of the choi-
cest spots for tip-making by
waitresses... No need for
some of the girls to act
disinterested in their work
or serve across table when
there is plenty of room to
get around.
RENO, NEV. is like Las
Vegas _ was 18 years ago,

says Sid Hudson, recently in
town...a booming metropol-
is...Sid will open another
cleaning spot...at the Reno
MGM when it says hello in
May of 1978 (he's looking
for a man and wife who
want to go live in Reno and
run it for him).
Reno MGM Grand's ca-
sino will be twice the size of
the one in Las Vegas, which
is as huge as a football
field...The hotel will have
about 2,000 rooms, bowling
alleys, jai alai etc....Also a
Reno edition of the great
stage presentation of "Hal-
lelujah Hollywood" that will
alternate- back and forth
with the one in Las Vegas.
