Dr. David Weinstein, Spertus College president, said that new interest in ethnic origins, which he said was permeating American Jewish life, had created a great demand for teachers and social welfare workers with advanced degrees both in their professional fields and in Judaic studies. Requirements for en- trance into the graduate in- stitute are a bachelor's de- gree with a major in Judaica or its equivalent, for the education program, and a bachelor's degree with a minor or its equiva- lent for the communal serv- ice program. In both two-year pro- grams, which are expected to produce their first mas- ter's degree holders in June 1979, students will take Ju- daica courses at Spertus College and some profes- sional courses at the Uni- versity of Illinois at Chicago Circle.
