NEW YORK—The Nation-
al Board of License (NBL),
the coordinating and stand-
ard-setting body responsible
for issuing licenses to teach-
ers in Jewish schools in
North America, has approv-
ed a major modification in
its certification procedure
aimed at encouraging young
people to enter the field of
Jewish education.
The NBL, an agency spon-
sored and administered by
the American Association
for - Jewish Education, has
authorized its committee of
examiners to grant teaching
licen-ses to persons who
have accumulated the re-
quired credits in Hebraica
and Judaica courses at gen-
eral universities.
Previously, certification
had been limited to gradu-
ates of recognized Hebrew
teacher training colleges in
the United States or of ap-
proved institutions in Israel
and abroad.' ' " 4
