Danny Raskin's

LISTENING

POST

HENRY BASKIN, now at-
torney for the stars in local
land, recently almost taking
John Kelly's job away when
he subbed for his client on
WXYZ-TV's - "Kelly & Co."
early morning talk show.
Hank's mom, Gladys
(Max), says he used to
make a microphone out of a
stick and do Walter Win-
chell's famed "Good Eve-
ning Mr. & Mrs. America"
bit, among others, when
Henry was 10-years-old.
Hank is a fine attorney
and a swell guy ... Those
who've seen him on tele-
vision, though,can't imag-
ine him not being in the
starlight spotlight himself...
he's really that good.

AT THE BREAKFAST

table recently, local at-
torney Gary Kraft told wife
Marlene and seven-year-old
son Steven of having to go
look up something at the
Detroit Bureau of Records...
Hearing about records, little
Steven asked dad to pick out
some good Barry Manilows
for him.
IT COULD BE mass con-
fusion if you ask for Jerry
at Sentry Drugs, 10 Mile and
Southfield ... there are three
of them... pharmacists Jer-
ry Kalman and Jerry
Adoree... and merchandise
manager Jerry Vance...
Then again, if you forget
some fellow's name there,
you could call him Jerry
and most likely be right.
AL NETTLE, bossman
with Roy Calley at Charter
House Barber Shop on Nine
Mile, will either have to
grow back his mustache or
wear a false one... 11-
month-old son Tony refused
to go to him when Al came
home clean shaven... and
still thinks there's a strange
man in the house!
OAK PARK Masonic
Lodge 591 has a New Year's
Eve shindig being readied...
open to all masonic brothers
and friends... at Beth Abra-
ham Hillel Synagogue... $45
for dinner, breakfast, danc-
ing, etc... Call Sandy Bell,

BIRTHDAY CON-
GRATS...to Dr. Abe Pearl-

man.

FOLKS ARE SAYING

that Max Sosin has become
one of our community's top
number callers at nights of
games... However, at recent
Feather Party by Crescent
Shrine Club, many of the
almost 700 in attendance
thought he was pulling "spe-
cial" numbers out of the air
so wife Ruth could win two
turkeys and champagne...
At one game, two people got
over-excited with wrong "I
win! "calls... So many oohs,
ahs, darn its and just one
little number to
go...Chairman Sol Lakind
says the affair is to give
Crescent members some-
thing... Helping in the won-
derful work done by this

CIRCUS BOOSTER But-
ton campaign is on now by
Crescent Shrine Club...
earning the guys money to
take 1,545 children to the
Shrine Circus this year...
transportation, food, etc...
Hardly a saying could be
more powerful than The
Shrine words, "No man
stands so tall as when he
stoops to help a crippled
child." ...Those taken to the
circus will also include blind
and needy youngsters.

HEAVYWEIGHT BOX-
ING champ. Mohammed Ali

didn't need any hair styling,
but he did want to be in a
picture with Mike Kelly and
Guy Minnella at the Nation-
al Hair Stylist Show in Chi-
cago...' The gents of Honey-
well Barber Salon,
Honeywell building on Nine
Mile, with team represent-
ing Michigan, met Ali at
breakfast... and they say
the champ is anything but a
loud mouth people take him
to be... In fact, say Mike
and Guy, he's quite a nice
gent.

HAVE YOU EVER heard
of a non-profit group called
"Marriage Encounter?"...
It's supposed to really be
something... We'd sure like
to know more about what
folks are calling somewhat
of a phenomenon.
HEAR TELL that a Caro-
lina genius has perfected a
new baby food that's half
orange juice and half gar-
lic...It not only makes the
baby healthier, but easier to
find in the dark.
