Stronger Ties Uniting Jewries

MOVING?
Aliya and Klita Depart-
ment, here to confer with
heads of leading Jewish
movements for Israel,
urged the strengthening of
bridges uniting American
and Israel Jewries by
means of direct
involvements of youth in
Israeli educational and set-
tlement projects.
This, he said, also applies
to other Jewries whose
involvements within Israel
assure positive approaches
that help Israel and at the
same time give new
inspiration to the commu-
nities in the Diaspora.
Narkiss told the local
heads of the Detroit Zionist
Federation and the Jewish
Welfare Federation with
whom he conferred, that
even a six-month or a year
stay in Israel by students or
those working in kibutzim
gives them added
inspiration to promote iden-
tification with the commu-
nities in which they have
their roots.

UZI NARKISS
"This," he said, "inevita-
bly encourages a measure
of aliya, of eventual settle-
Ment in Israel by Western
Jews who are so vital to our
constructive efforts in
Israel."
A native of Jerusalem,
Uzi Narkiss now is devoting
his energies to bringing the
message of the Jewish state
to those desiring to settle in
Israel. He also aims to
encourage the youth in their
involvement with the Jew-
ish state's need for immi-
grants from the free coun-
tries whence they can bring
added know-how when pur-
suing links with Israeli
industries and students who
wish to pursue their studies
in an Hebraic environment.
It is Narkiss' conviction
that a great contribution
can be made to Jewish
educational aspirations by
the training of American
youth for teaching profes-
sions in this country.
Narkiss urged close coop-
eration by groups and indi-
viduals interested in aliya
with the local Aliya Center
and its director, Yehuda
Berman.
