LOOPHOLE'S
RESTAURANT!

L.J. Loophole's is a brand new
restaurant that's just opened
next to "Yesterdays"— South-
field's liveliest nightspot.
How come a fabulous
restaurant like this is
named after a scala-
wag like Loophole?
Don't ask.
Just enjoy his marvel-
ous specialities: "Chief
Justice" Burgers. Spinach
Salad. Nachos. Beer
Battered Apple (gar-
nished with a Pork Chop).

And, of course, Prime Rib
and Steak. Special drinks like
a Silver Chiseller. Flagrantly
fun desserts like Blue-
berry Schlumpp.
Open daily 11:30 a.m.
to 10:30 p.m. Special
Sunday Brunch 11 a.m.
to 2:30 p.m.

folks who want to eat and
get out fast, Plaza Deli, in
the Franklin Shopping Cen-

ter, Northwestern and 12
Mile, is in a class all itself.
Its very unique operation
is the challenging brainchild
of Mai Kai Cleaners boss
Steve Hurwitz, who contin-
ually seeks new worlds of
business to conquer... Plaza
is certainly one of
them...thanks in no small
measure to his choice of
partners to run the
place...Iry Greenberg and
his wife Ruth, who folks call
Mrs. Everything in her role
as goodwill ambassa-
dor...taking tray orders and
discouraging people from
ordering too much..."Why
do you need all that?" says
Ruth, "you'll just pay for
something to throw away."
Count the years of delica-
tessen experience among
Plaza's employees and
you've got a totally
unmatched number any-
where...The help count is 31,
including 15 well-learned
countermen like George
Fredson, Larry Hoptman,
Lou Wiener, Scott Portman
and other very fine back-of-
the-boards gents...with,
Sandy Greenberg, Ruth and
Irv's most capable 28-year-
old son as general man-
ager...and Larry Hoptman
manager with Mike
Onofrey.

Then there's Joanee Hur-
witz, Steve's wife, a former
nurse who comes in about
four hours a day to handle
some of the overloaded
carry-out orders via
telephone.

Talk about a clean restau-
rant kitchen and you must
include Plaza among the
tops...with its walk-in
refrigerators storing
goodies like delicious
chopped liver made by Iry
(creamy without schmaltz)
from kosher meat.
The decor at Plaza is
delicatessen all the
way...with 372 salamis
hanging to dry... and con-
stantly being replaced after
each sale.
There are no meals at
Plaza...sandwiches
galore...to eat in or carry
out... (last week's' Michigan-
Ohio State game had over
500 sandwiches made for
pickup by fans going to Ann
Arbor )...Since February of
this year, Steve and Iry had
taken over a store next
door, took down the wall,
added 28 sit-down seats plus
a couple more round, stand-
up tables and utilized all the
extra space they could.

Stand around for awhile
