PHILADELPHIA (JTA)
— The Jewish Exponent,
_ one of the oldest and largest
Anglo-Jewish newspapers in
_America, announced that it
has completed the purchase
of the Main Line Expres-
sion, a weekly tabloid that
serves some 30,000 house-
holds in more than a score
of suburban Philadelphia
communiti -es. The
-ip announcement was made
()Intl by William S. Loeb,
t of the Exponent
erome Stern, presi-
dent of the Federation of
Jewish Agencies of Greater
Philadelphia, which owns
"the Exponent.
The Expression, which
was founded in August, 1976,
"becomes the third pub-
lication in our family,"
.Loeb said. It consists now of
the Exponent, the Jewish

Times, which the Exponent
acquired nearly two years
ago and the Main Line

Jewish Influence
Is Exaggerated

NEW YORK—Jacques
Torczyner, a member of the
-Executive of the World
Zionist Organization and the
Jewish Agency, has warned
of a danger of an exagger-
ated faith in Jewish
influence. "The growing
legend of the Jewish lobby
is potentially harmful," said
Torczyner, "for while we
rare not weak, there are
very real limitations to our
strength."
Torczyner, while address-
ing a luncheon meeting of
the New York Women's
Division of the Zionist
_Organization of America,
noted that "the real
influence grew out of the
support of the broad public.
It is this support," he said,
"which is reflected in the
House and Senate."
Torczyner criticized those
who have been making
repeated reference to a
Jewish lobby. "What we are
- dealing with is a large num-
ber of people, Jews and non-
-,.Jews, who wish-to avert a
serious disaster for the
*United States."
