JWB Issues Book Annual
NEW YORK—Is Saul Bel-
low a Jewish writer or a
writer who happens to be
Jewish?
This provocative question
is the subject of a feature
article in Volume 35 of Jew-
ish Book Annual, the tri-
lingual American yearbook
of Jewish literary creativity
published by the Jewish
Welfare Board Jewish Book
Council.
More than 920 works of
Jewish interest published in
America, Israel and Great
Britain during 1976-77 are
annotated in the current edi-
tion of Jewish Book Annual.
Also, more than 20 other
articles on Jews and books
are included in the
yearbook.
Copies of Jewish Book
Annual are available for a
charge, from Jewish Book
Council, JWB, 15 E. 26th St.,
New York, N.Y. 10010.

Ancient Jerusalem
Focus of Exhibit
WASHINGTON—Ancient
Jerusalem — from the time
of King David in the 10th
century BCE through the
destruction of the Jewish
City by the Romans in 70
CE — will be depicted for
the first time outside Israel
in an archeological exhibi-
tion in the Bnai Brith
Klutznick Museum Oct. 31-
Jan. 31, 1978.
Called "Roots of Stone:
Jerusalem Unearthed," the
exhibition will also mark
the reopening of the Bnai
Brith museum. The facility
was closed following the
attack on the Bnai Brith
headquarters building by a
band of Hanafi Muslim ter-
rorists last March.
occupied Paris in the early
40's. Intelligent, sophis-
ticated. smugly charming,
he has no compassion for
the misfortunes of others
nor any capacity for human
understanding and
sympathy.
Suddenly, a Jew with the
same name, scheduled for
deportation, disappears
without a trace and the non-
Jewish Mr. Klein finds it
necessary to prove his own
identity. He finds himself in
an inextricable maze which
impicates him in the other
Klein's identify and in even-
tual doom.
Appearing with Delon in
the film are Jeanne Moreau,
Suzanne Flon and Juliet
Berto.
