Alvin Shapiro, left, president of Tam-O-Shanter Country Club, and Dan Kahn, Israel Bond chairman for the club, practice putting below a flag from its sister golf club in Caesarea, Israel. At a recent dinner on behalf of Israel Bonds, club manager Russ Barget suggested using golf flags with Hebrew numbers on the course. The day after he made his suggestion, an Israeli colonel happened to be in Detroit and was approached with the idea. A golf enthusiast himself, the colonel followed up on the request, and soon 18 flags came as a gift to the Detroit club. Meanwhile, plans are, being discussed for an annual "long-distance" tourna- ment, taking place simultaneously in Israel -and Detroit. We Have Your Size!
