Saudis Will Study, Negotiate for French Weapons

PARIS (JTA )—A Saudi
Arabian technical military
mission will visit France to
examine available military
hardware and to start nego-

tiations for purchases,
according to French offi-
cials. Sales to Saudi Arabia
could amount to l'$10 billion
over the next few years if

the negotiations are
successful.
The Saudis are reportedly
interested in acquiring the
Mirage F-1 jet which is
described by military
experts as the equivalent of
the sophisticated American-
made F-15. The Saudis also
want helicopters, tanks and
electronic equipment.
Naval equipment, includ-
ing ships, will continue to be
ordered in Britain. accord-

TEL AVIV (JTA )—Israeli
and Lebanese army officers
resumed their talks at the
Rosh Hanikra border post
on the status of the cease-
fire agreement in south
Lebanon and related mat-
ters. The meeting was the
first since the talks were
suspended by 'Israel four
weeks ago in protest against
cease-fire violations by
Palestinian terrorists.
The Lebanese team con-
sisting of two colonels and
two majors was flown to
Haifa Airport in 'a United
Nations aircraft and driven
from there to..Rosh Hanikra.
They could not reach the
border post directly from
Beirut because the coast
road is blocked by
terrorists.
