The Israeli Hasidic Festi- val originated in 1969 as a contest for the best music set to biblical verses. The winning songs, judged by the audiences after- having been selected from hundreds of entries, are per- formed by Israel's top entertainers to audiences in Jerusalem, Tel Mriv and Haifa.
