All of the banquet level seating for 250, and much of the dinner area open for Larco's regular diners, was completely taken over by Sid's friends and those who have come to know him by reputation. He was honored by the City of Detroit with a "Sid Hudson Day" proclamation that Mayor Coleman Young couldn't show up to pre- sent...and a City Council resolution by Councilman Billy Rogell. Sid will be the 1978 "Man of the Year" recipient from the City of Hope National Medical Center... March 12...at the Las Vegas Hilton. BIRTHDAY CON- GRATS...to sister Lil Rosen...and son Scott. The party, having a Broadway musical theme, gave Devan an opportunity to sing "I'm The Greatest Star" from Funny Girl, and "This Is The Best Night Of My Life" from Applause...Cantor Harold Orbach sang "If I Were A Rich Man"; Steve Coden, "Cabaret"; Doris Coleman, in Yiddish, "Like The Moon Above You"; the Bnai Brith Centennial Bowlers, "Luck Be A Lady Tonight"; the gals from Al-Mar Telephone Answering Service, "The Bells Are Ringing" and Ed Burg and his orchestra lead- ing each table in a sing-a- long, giving all the guests a chance 'to display their undiscovered talents...Also, throughout the evening, the guests were interviewed, giving them an opportunity to see themselves on the television monitors. Carrying out the Broad- way musical theme, each table's center-piece depicted a scene from a dif- ferent Great White Way show...and the stage was lit up with a marquee that read, "Devan's Music Palace."
