The articles were chal- lenged by Israel, and Brit- ish author David Pryce- Jones pointed out dis- crepancies in the charges and similarities between the cases cited with those of similar charges printed in the Times eight years ago. The two women attorneys were the sources for the earlier charges as well. After the latest series of articles, in June, the Israel Embassy in London gave a lengthy reply (The Jewish News, July 8, 1977, Page 1) stating that Arab prisoners often claimed brutality after talking to Israeli authorities because they were afraid of retaliation from other prisoners. The embassy said that Mrs. Langer and Mrs. Tse- inel "make a practice of claiming that every client of theirs who makes a state- • ment to the police does so under pressure." However, whenever the police open inquiries into the allegations and request people to pro- vide statements or to sub- mit evidence "the two law- yers simply fail to reply." Mrs. Tsemel's campus talks are being sponsored by the Arab student organi- zations at WSU and U-M. The title of her Central Methodist Church talk, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, is "Political Repression in Israel: An Israeli Jew Speaks Out for Human Rights."
