Buddy Nathanson and others... that Monk was playing at the Grand Riv- iera for years...Freddie Stritt was at the State Thea- ter, band leader Sam Jack Kaufman directed the great Fox Theater orchestra for many years-(circa the 30's) and the most entertaining vaudeville was at the Regent. Grand Blvd. and Woodward. where most every Saturday we would pack a lunch and stay for at least two performances. "Blanche and Jay Joseph. at the annual picnic and barbecue of the Mr. and Mrs. Group. City of Hope. held at Oak Park. (in the park) commenting that while there was an abun- dance of food left over. there was no problem of left-overs. Many senior citi- zens invited themselves over and had a ball.
