HY LEWIS WRITES:

"Roy Foreman. recently
retired from the business
world and still a physical

fitness huff. tells about his
grandson. Bradley Good-
man. Bradley. 13-years-old.
is following close in the
tennis footsteps of his dad.
Norman. Brad is already
assured of a tennis scholar-
ship. he is that good. in
fact. recently at Ft. Lauder-
dale. Bradley was observed
while playing there by Chris
Evert's father. who invited
Brad to play a few sets with
Chris' younger sister. While
Bradley didn't get to play
with the No. 1 seeded
women's world tennis
champion. he did beat her
sister,. Watch the sports
page for the continuing saga
of Bradley Goodman.
"Charlie Hoptman finally
got,the answer to the ques-
tion (again with the good
old days). Charlie thought
that Monk Watson held
sway at the Ferry Park
Theater. while Iry Pitt. who
ushered at the fabulous Fox
in Detroit at the age of 16.
says... along with .Jules
Olen. Meyer Feinstein.
Buddy Nathanson and
others... that Monk was
playing at the Grand Riv-
iera for years...Freddie
Stritt was at the State Thea-
ter, band leader Sam Jack
Kaufman directed the great
Fox Theater orchestra for
many years-(circa the 30's)
and the most entertaining
vaudeville was at the
Regent. Grand Blvd. and
Woodward. where most
every Saturday we would
pack a lunch and stay for at
least two performances.

"Blanche and Jay Joseph.
at the annual picnic and
barbecue of the Mr. and
Mrs. Group. City of Hope.
held at Oak Park. (in the
park) commenting that
while there was an abun-
dance of food left over.
there was no problem of
left-overs. Many senior citi-
zens invited themselves
over and had a ball.
"Dr. Sidney Friedlaender
commenting on a recent
Listening Post column. the
nostalgic 20's and 30's...
clearly remembering the
old school days at Trow-
bridge and later listening to
brother and colleague. Dr.
Alex. who with his clarinet.
making like 'Benny Good-
man'... We hope that Alex
never becomes 'allergic' to
the reed.
"To Dorothy and .Joe
Schechter...No apology is
necessary (reading. about
our 40th wedding anniver-
sary in Danny's column).
Your card is beautiful.. just
be on time for our 50th."
