Sinai Announces
Procedure Change

Sinai Hospital announced
two changes in its daily
operations.
The hospital has a new
computerized telephone sys-
tem that will allow callers
to reach patients directly.
The new number is 493-5500.
At the same time, the hos-
pital announces that it has
expanded visiting hours.
Two visitors per patient will
be allowed in the patient's
room. and passes are avail-
able in the main lobbies of
the hospital.

Pianist and Violinist to Open
Center Symphony's Season

Beginning his 38th season
as conductor of the Jewish
Center Symphony Orches-
tra, Julius Chajes will con-
duct the first concert of the
season 3:30 p.m. Sunday in
the Center's Shiffman Hall.

America. He has appeared
with the Brooklyn Academy
Orchestra and the Detroit
Symphony Orchestra.
Varani is artist-in-residence
at Oakland University.

Appearing on the program
will be pianist Flavio
Varani. who will play

Daily visiting hours are
from 1 to 8 p.m. in the pri-
vate rooms, semi-private
rooms, wards and in the
hospital's continued care
center.

Visiting in the maternity
ward will be from 7:30 to
8:30 p.m. Fathers only will
be allowed to visit from 10
to 11 a.m., 2-3 p.m. and 6-7
p.m. Visiting in the
intensive care units will be
permitted for 10 minutes at
a time from 11:30 a.m. to
3:30 p.m. and from 4:30 to
7:30 p.m. Persons wishing
to visit patients in the psy-
chiatric unit may come
from 1 to 3 p.m. Sundays.

and Paris and won the first
prize in the International
Chopin Competition in
Majorca, Spain. Varani
made his American debut at
Carnegie Hall and Lincoln
Center, and he had con-

U.S., Europe and South

MIHA POGACNIK
Born in Yugoslavia,
Pogacnik received his
diploma "with highest dis-
tinction" from the Cologne
(Germany) Conservatory of
Music. He entered the U.S.
in 1973 as a Fullbright
Scholar to Study with Josef
Gingold at Indiana Univer-
sity, where he was awarded
the school's highest honors.
Pogacnik has appeared as
soloist in England, Ger-
many, Switzerland, Italy,
Yugoslavia, Holland, Aus-
tria and the U.S.

Hillel House Dedication Set
to Take Place This Weekend

The Bnai Brith Hillel
House will mark its official
opening this weekend with
services, a dinner, square
dancing and dedication
ceremonies.
The events will begin at 7
p.m. today with services,
immediately followed by
dinner, in the house's Oak
Park location. 14400 W. 10
Mile, adjacent to Cong. Bnai
Moshe. At 9 p.m., Mildred
Grossman of the American
Jewish Committee will lead
a discussion on "Inter-
marriage and Changing Sex
Roles." An oneg Shabat.
featuring singing, dancing
and refreshments, will
follow.

Shabat morning services
will be held 9:30 a.m. Satur-
day, followed by kidush.
That evening, at 8:45 p.m.,
the organization will spon-
sor a square dance at Cong.
Shaarey Zedek. Square
dancing, refreshments and
games will be featured.
There is a nominal charge.

The formal dedication of
the Hillel House will take
place 2 p.m. Sunday on the
site. A champagne recep-
tion will follow. Everyone is
invited.

The Hillel House is a joint
venture of the Bnai Brith
Hillel Foundation, the Jew-
ish Welfare Federation and
Cong. Bnai Moshe. Pro-
grams planned for Jewish
collegians include a
monthly film series, infor-
