Visits Detroit

The rector of Hebrew Uni-
versity in Jerusalem. Dr.
Gidon Czapski. was in
Detroit to speak with local
Zionist leaders and, a num-
ber of physicians. including
Dr. Joel Hamburger.
Dr. Czapski was working
on the planning for a num-
ber of visits by Hebrew Uni-
versity faculty members to
alert the community to the
expanding activities at the
university in Jerusalem.
He reiterated that all of
Israel's universities are suf-
fering a financial squeeze
and tuition will again have
to be raised. He said the
budget of Hebrew Univer-
sity has been cut almost 40
percent by inflation.
"You can't stop research
for five years." he said.
"and then re-open without
losing impetus." He is hop-
ing that local chapters of
American Friends of
Hebrew University will
work toward building the
university's endowment
funds to finance research.

became the bride of Steven
Lawrence Sax in a recent
double-ring ceremony at
Temple Beth El.
The bride is the daughter
of Dr. and Mrs. Herbert S.
Jacobson of Southfield. Par-
ents of the bridegroom are
Mr. Harry H. Sax of Los
Angeles, Calif., and Dr.
Janet B. Sax of Cleveland,
Ohio.
Lisa Jacobson was the
matron of honor. Brides-
maids --were Elayne Niss,
Linda Berg, Amy Jaclmow
and Betty Smookler. Rich-
ard Sax was his brother's
best man. Ushers were
Leonard Sax and Philip,
Lawrence and Stuart 4(10-
son. John Mansell, Jr.. was
head usher.
The new Mrs. Sax and her
husband were graduated
from the University of
Michigan.
Following a Bermuda
honeymoon, the - couple will
live in Houston, Texas.

League hold their 40th donor
luncheon Oct. 19 at Cong.

Mrs.. Feigelman. will be
honored "for her lifelong
dedication and devotion to
.Jewish causes here and in
Israel." She was the spon-
sor for a science room at
the yeshiva. Mrs. Feigel-
man is a vice president of
