Villella, for 15 years a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet, has had ballets choreographed especially for him. He has been a guest star with bal- lets around the world. At the Bolshoi Theater in Mos- cow, the audience demanded an encore of Vil- lella, making him the only American dancer ever accorded that honor.
