torical marker, com-
memorating the longest
continuous use of a syna-
gogue in Michigan, by Cong.
Beth El of Traverse City,
will take place Oct. 16 at the
synagogue. The congrega-
tion has occupied its build-
ing since 1885.
The dedication ceremony
will be attended by Gov.
William Milliken; Cantor
Harold Orbach of Temple
Israel; the congregation's
spiritual leader, Rabbi
Harry E. Goldwater and
Diane Gilbo, Traverse City
mayor pro-tern.
Also attending will be Dr.
Irving I. Edgar of the Jew-
ish Historical Society of
Michigan, Jerry Rose of the
Michigan Historical Com-
mission and Hyman Bylan
of the Union of American
Hebrew Congregations.
The Department of Mich-
igan, Jewish War Veterans,
will present and dedicate an
American flag for use by
Beth El, as part of the
ceremonies.
