Blanchard (D-18th District) has joined in a letter to the United States Olympic Com- mittee to protest apparent efforts by the Soviet Union and Third World countries to arrange the exclusion of Israel from the 1980 Olym- pic Games in Moscow. The letter, authored by Congressman Jack Kemp (R-NY) and signed by 81 Representatives, warns the committee that U.S. support for the games will "col- lapse" if Israel is excluded. The committee was organized in response to a study and recommendations submitted pre- viously by the fiscal review committee of Federation and United Jewish Charities. Members will serve on panels in the areas of real estate and land, portfolio management, and investment and audit. and that Congress would not support funding to assist U.S. participation in the games. Blanchard said the Rus- sians and Third World nations have been attempt- ing to force Israel out of the 26 Olympic federations— each representing an hidi- vidual Olympic sport—one by one, in order to make it ineligible for the -1980 Olympics.
