Community Council Dinner to Mark
Umbrella Group's 40th Anniversary.

The Jewish Community
Council of Metropolitan De-
troit will mark its 40th anni-
versary with a dinner at
Cong. Shaarey Zedek on
Oct. 30.
The Council came into ex-
istence before World War II
when Jews were targets of
hate-mongers. It began
with 20 individuals in 1937.
Today it is composed of
delegates from 300 member
Jewish organizations, and
serves as a forum and
voice for the Jewish com-
munity.

The Jewish Community
Council maintains a speak-
ers' bureau, a filth lending
library, produces three
weekly radio shows and a
television show, and has , a
. Mediation and Arbitration
Service.

meeting of the season 8:30
p.m. Saturday at the Labor
Zionist Institute.
Aldo Vagnozzi, editor of
the Michigan AFL-CIO
News and a Workmen's
Circle member, will speak
on "Israel Viewed by Amer-
ican Labor Editors." He
was one of a group of non-
Jewish editors of labor pub-
lications who toured Israel
as guests of Histadrut just
after the recent election.
New members will be pre-
sented with Workmen's
Circle pins. Cocktails • will
be served at 8:30 p.m. and
refreshments will follow the
program. The' public is in-

The New Horizons Chap-
ter of the City of Hope will
have its fourth annual mil-
lionaire's party 8 p.m. Sept.
