Israel Helping
in Cholera Fight

JERUSALEM (JTA)—Is-
raeli health authorities are
prepared to cooperate with
Jordanian authorities to pre-
vent the spread of a cholera
epidemic to the West Bank.
One preventive measure
has been to halt the import
of fruits and vegetables
over the Jordan River
bridges.
So far 60 cholera cases
have been reported in Jor-
dan and 81 in Damascus
where 46 persons have died
of the disease so far.
A Health Ministry spokes-
man said Israel has not
been declared a "cholera
stricken area" and Israelis
who have gone abroad will
not require immunization.
But there is concern for the
West Bank. So far only one
case has been reported
there. A Nablus woman fell
ill with cholera but her con-
dition reportedly has im-
proved.

Chick peas are ever popu-
lar in Israel. as are fresh
vegetables. My sister who
lives on an agricultural
moshav sends this recipe.

1 lb. fresh green beans
1 No. 303 can chick peas
1 /4 cup butter
salt, pepper
Wash and cut green beans
into 1-inch strips. Put into a
saucepan. Drain chick peas,
saving the liquid. To the liquid
(from the chid( peas) add
enough water to make one
cup. Pour over the green
beans in the saucepan and
boil covered 10-12 minutes.
Add chick peas and drain the
liquid from the green beans.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Add butter. Toss well and re-
heat foi a few minutes.
