"SHE BROUGHT DOWN

the house" says Maynard
Feldman, chairman of the
Oct. 9 first annual dinner-
dance at Cong. Shaarey
Zedek by Michigan Sub-Re-
gion of the Great Lakes Re-
gion, National Federation
of Jewish Mens Clubs,
about Jeannie Rey-
nolds...He saw 3,000 people
give the comedienne-song-
stress a standing ovation
while at the Concord with
wife Betty.
Maynard had originally
planned to bring Jeannie to
Southfield for the Fall Re-
gional Conference...and
when the opportunity came
for her and husband-pianist
Hal Schleifer to be here, he
and others who attended
the national convention
pounced on the chance to
have them.
It'll just be an evening of
enjoyment...no speeches or
fund raising, says Maynard,
who can be reached eve-
nings for tickets, 557-0248.

SID HUDSON'S NEXT

visit to Detroit from . Las
Vegas is scheduled for Oct.
14...He's 1978 National City
of Hope Man of The
Year...and will be recog-
nized as such at the annual
dinner-dance by Detroit
Businessmen's Group, City
of Hope, Oct. 16, at Mich-
igan Inn.-
While here, Sid will also
be given a testimonial din-
ner at Larco's, Oct. 18, in
which Mayor Coleman
Young will present him
with a proclamation from
the City of Detroit.
Former boxing great Joe
Louis, among others, will
come from Las Vegas for
the testimonial.

HAPPY BIRTH-
DAY...though belated...to

Debbie Silber (Dennis).
WHEN JOSEPHINE and
Dr. Bob Drews recently
sold their combination
home and office in Russell
Woods after - 36 years, they
also broke up his medical
and mental health collec-
tion, plus Jo's personal li-
brary...giving them to
Brandeis' Detroit chapter
for its recent book
sale...Now they are settled
into a new way of life...Bob
has his office on the first
floor of the Charter House
and their living quarters on
the second.
ANOTHER POSSIBLE
candidate for Miami Beach
city council this fall is Mi-
chael Limond, son of Detroit-
ers Lauretta and Barney Li-
mond...Mike is an ex U of
D Law School grad, and as-
sistant city attorney in
Miami Beach for the past
five years.
POINT AFTER Delicates-
sen-Restaurant in the Rac-
quetime Building on 12 Mile
and Northwestern will re-
main a deli operation...only
no doubt much better in
food quality and servi c e.
It's now owned by Henry
Dong, noted for his fine abil-
ity as a restaurateur...and
if his Susie Dong's Chinese
eatery in Livonia is any in-

dication folks can look to
him for good things...He
took over the former Nosh-
erie at that locale and
Point After on Sept. 1 and
already indications appear
most favorable.
IF YOU KNOW Herman
Berlin at Pillow Talk on
Nine Mile in Oak Park, you
can understand him answer-
ing a lady who asked how
much he charged to reno-
vate a down quilt...with the
statement that down is up.
NEW OWNER of Kings-
ley Inn on Woodward is
Sam Zawideh, who folks re-
member as the likeable bos-
sman at Sir George's on
Telegraph Rd.
PITY THE POOR motor-
ist whose tire is almost flat
if he goes into the Mobil sta-
tion on Greenfield and 11
Mile and gets one of the
couldn't-care-less attend-
ants... "We have no air,"
said one of them, "but I
can sell you some gas."
...Actually, the air thigama-
jig was broken. '
We remember when giv-
ing air was one of the
prime requisites of a good
station...Today at many
places it's a do-it-yourself
service if you want any.,
FRED SILBER called
wife Clara recently at her
card game to say that he
wanted some cereal...and
where did she keep the
milk?
Clara and Fred will ce-
lebrrate their 40th anniver-
sar3r this year in Israel.
SCENES 'N
STUFF...Stupid hostess at a
local eatery seeing a man
with cigars in his pocket
and asking if he wanted a
"No Smoking" sec-
tion...Same hostess then sat
a couple after him in a regu-
lar area who can't stand
smoke... Great idea at North-
land...painting the "Re- ,
served For Handicapped'''
parking spaces a bright
blue...Those who spell out
on the ground what the
spaces are for achieve a
good purpose too...Only the
signs are law so the others
make it a real double bar-
reled notice...
Denise Richman Alexan-
der, daughter of Magene
and Sam Richman, opening
her law office in the Ameri-
can Federal Savings Build-
ing of Southfield...Barrister
Mort Eskin moving his law
offices to the Heritage
Plaza on Northwestern
and 10 Mile...Fastest
human in the world: our
son Scott when the tele-
phone rings in his
room...Rita Gold "doing the
town" in Detroit with son
Al Gold and daughter-in-
law Cheryl, while hubby
Harry sat home in Windsor
baby-sitting with Al and
Cheryl's two children, 6-
year-old Michelle and 5-
year-old Jennifer.
