The Jack and Miriam Shenkman Synagogue, above, lo-
cated in the University of Michigan Chabad House Student
Center in Ann Arbor, will be dedicated Sept. 18. Guest
speaker will be Dr. Velvl W. Greene, professor of micro-
biology at the University of Minnesota, NASA space scien-
tist and lecturer on science and religion.

Miriam Shenkman syna-
gogue located in the Univer-
sity of Michigan Chabad
House Student Center on
the U-M campus.

vant Jewish family, Shenk-

hospitality in his efforts on
behalf of communal causes.
Mrs. Shenkman's role in
the community exemplifies
her dedication to Judaism.
She is known to encourage

the mitzva of candlelighting
by giving gifts of candle-
sticks to newlyweds and
has often aided indigent im-
migrant mothers-to-be.
A son, Arnold, is studying
at the Lubavitch Talmudic
Academy in Morristown,
N.J.
Shenkman was for 20
years a board member, offi-
cer and president of the
United Hebrew Schools for
which he was instrumental
in beginning many projects.
He is a member of Per-
fection Lodge of the
Masons, Marshall-Suburban
Lodge of Bnai Brith and
more.
