TEL AVIV—The Likud
would win 63 Knesset
seats—an unprecedented ab-
solute majority—if elections
were to be held now, accord-
ing to a recent poll.
The poll, by Modi'in Ez-
rahi, indicated that the
Alignment would get 24
seats in the 120-member
Knesset. (It won 32 in the
May 17 election.)
The religious parties,
which together now hold 17
seats, would hold their own
or lose one, according to
the poll. Eight seats would
go to all the other parties,
including the Rakah-led

69.4 percent of the Modi'in
Ezrahi sampling. Another
8.8 percent would prefer for-
mer Prime Minister Yitz-
hak Rabin, and 8.2 percent
chose Shimon Peres.
The poll also indicates
that, since the Likud came
into power the general feel-
ing in the country was "bet-
ter"—a statement made by
56 percent, while 8 percent
felt it had deteriorated. A
third noticed no change.
Settlement in Judea and
Samaria has 58 percent sup-
port, 24 percent back settle-
ment in part of those areas,
and 14 percent flatly oppose
it. Sixty-eight percent be-
lieve the Democratic Move-
ment for Change should
join the government, with
25 percent opposing.
