for new groups starting
next month.
The first group, which
began in July, involved five
boys, age 10 and 11. The
boys, some of whom are
also in individual therapy,
met together with group
workers' for 1 1/2 to two
hours weekly.
"The focus in group activ-
ity therapy is on doing
things, rather than just talk-
ing, although the group
does that too," said Samuel
Lerner, JFS executive direc-
tor.
"The children all have
problems—such as getting
along- with others, for in-
stance—and in a group situ-
ation they can see their
own difficulties more clear-
ly and learn from the other
members. The group can
help them work on their
problems and change their
behavior."
The groups starting next
month will include girls and
children as young as 6, Ler-
ner said.
Staffers from the Or-
chards, a residential child
treatment center in Li-
vonia, are working with the
JFS in the program.
For information, contact
Lerner at the Jewish Fam-
ily Service, 24123 Green-
field, Southfield, 559-1500.

In spite of all the injury
the Egyptians did to the
Jews. the Mosaic Law
treats them leniently. as is
proven by the Bible saying:
"Thou shalt not abhor an
Egyptian. because thou
wast a stranger in his
land."
—The Talmud

If you insist you're right
