Alfred Taub- man is a key figure in a project to develop land in downtown Detroit for a major shopping center. The project, tentatively called A. ALFRED TAUBMAN the Cadillac Square devel- opment. would. if devel- oped. be among the largest downtown development proj- ects in the country. Other major backers in the project include Joseph L. Hudson. Jr.. and Detroit Renaissance. a business-fi- nanced civic organization. Both Taubman and Hudson are members of Detroit Renaissance. Although Taubman has been working on the project officially as a member of Detroit Renaissance. city of- ficials want him to be the -project's eventual prime de- veloper. New Hebrew Class Slated at Center The Hebrew Department of the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan De- troit this fall will offer a special class in conversa- tional Hebrew. This class will serve as a refresher course for people who have some background in the Hebrew language. The class will be offered in addition to the regular ulpan program, which in- cludes morning and evening classes for beginners, ad- vanced and students on other levels.
