No fur- ther reaction or other com- ment could be elicited. The disclaimer was made in connection with reports in recent weeks that there was some Israeli in- volvement—along with the known massive Cuban and Soviet involvement—in Eth- iopia, which finds itself lock- ed in increasingly grim struggles with Eritrean sep- aratist rebels and Somali ir- regulars. Assumes Image-Building Mission for Likud Government JERUSALEM (JTA)— Former Foreign Minister Abba Eban left last week on a two week "information mission" to the _United States for the Likud govern- ment. Eban, a Labor MK, said on a radio interview before his departure that he saw nothing .wrong in under- taking a mission for Likud because he would confine his efforts to explaining gov- ernment policies in areas where there is a broad con- sensus and a necessity to in- form American opinion about Israel's problems be- fore the Geneva conference reconvenes. According to Eban there is a "national consensus" in Israel not to return to the 1967 borders and to oppose a Palestinian state in terri- tories that Israel may evac- uate. He said that in dis- cussing these matters he would be expressing the views of his own party. In response to questions, Eban said he thought the issue of legalizing three set- tlements on the West Bank, which drew a sharp Ameri- can rebuke last week, had been exaggerated. He noted that the former Labor-led quality swimming pools in every detail Perma-Bilt's strict adherance to correct building codes and standards assures you of finest quality at all times. Eban told newsmen at the airport that he was not in full agreement with the new government. He will meet with U.S. officials in Washington and with the media in various parts of the country. He said he undertook the mission at the invitation of Foreign Minister Moshe Dayan and that it was ap- proved by Labor Alignment leader Shimon Peres. Eban will stop over in London briefly before proceeding to New York. Libraries Cited for Jewish Identity NEW YORK—(JTA)—"It may well be that the great Jewish teachers have been as qualified psychologists as Erich Fromm and Erik Erikson," stated Rabbi Isaac N. Trainin, director of the Commission on Syna- gogue Relations of the Fed- eration of Jewish Philan- thropies, at the recent 13th Annual Judaica Libraries Conference at Federation headquarters in Manhattan. The network of 42 Ju- daica libraries at federation agencies, established since 1965 through the Commis- sion's Task Force on Art and Literature in Jewish Life, is part of federation's on-going emphasis on pro- viding . Jewish education and the opportunity to build cultural identity for all ages. Citing psychology as only one example, Trainin em- phasized the wealth of learn- ing in many areas found in Jewish literature. He com- mented on the unique acces- sibility and profound in- fluence of Jewish literature as an essential factor in the formation of Jewish cultur- al identity.
