new statewide Minority
Business Acquisition Pro-
gram which will help to lo-
cate successful businesses
owned and operated by
Jews which could be trans-
ferred to minority entrepre-
neurs as their owners re-
tire.

Volunteers Leave for Israel

from across the U.S. left
last week to begin a year-
long program in Israel as
participants of Sherut
La'am, a program spon-
sored by the American Zion-
ist Youth Foundation'
The large majority of the
volunteers will be assigned
to social service jobs in the
underprivileged Israeli com-
munities known as devel-
opment towns. In addition,
a few of the volunteers with
medical training will be as-
signed to work in_ their spe-
cialties.

ner, the U.S. has also de-
cided to approve Israel's
request for $107 million in
U.S. financing to help "Is-
rael support production of
its locally manufactured
Chariot- tanks".
Trattner said "The gener-
al magnitude of the pro-
posed transaction is about
$250 million". He stated
that the decision on Israeli
co-production of the F-16
fighter jets "remains under
active consideration".

ternational Federation of
Journalists may cancel a
planned tour to Hungary
unless the Budapest author-
ities reverse their refusal to
issue an entry visa to the Is-
raeli member of the delega-
tion, Mrs. Bella Almog.
The Israeli Journalists As-
sociation protested to the in-
ternational body. Its presi-
dent, Theo Bogart, said in
reply that he has asked the.
Hungarian Journalists Asso-
ciation to pressure their
government to issue the
visa.. If this fails Bogart
said the Federation would
consider cancelling its visit
to Hungary.
