wash for my (Bnai Brith
Girls) chapter or Jewish
group. Every synagogue
and temple I had talked to
would not allow my chapter
to use their otherwise
empty lot for the Sunday
(or any day) that I had
scheduled the car wash.
Yet St. Bedes, a Catholic
church, immediately
agreed to let us use their
back lot for any day. except
Sunday, their busy day.
Why is it that a Catholic
church is willing to support
my Jewish organization
when Jewish synagogues
would not?
Some said there were
rules against permitting out-
side organizations using
their facilities, in this case.

lot. Others didn't like the

idea of us using their water
which I said I would pay
for out of the money we
would have earned, but
they said this didn't matter.
The general impression
was that since I wasn't a
member of their temple. I
wasn't a Jew but an out-
sider. Is this the way Jews
stick together? I'm not --a
member of the church and
they hadn't even mentioned
payment for the water. and
still said yes to us!
