Three occasions of note happening simultaneously in Is-
rael are depicted on .the Israeli stamps pictured above.
The three stamps in the top photograph depict some of the
Maccabia Games contests, shot put, judo and fencing. At
the bottom left, a symbolic design accompanied by a quota-
tion from Hosea mark the centenary of Petah Tikva. The
stamp at right was issued in honor of the recent Zionist or-
ganization of America's 80th anniversary convention in Is-
rael.

Detroiter Serves
on Freud Group

.

NEW YORK—Dr. Mayer
Subrin of Bloomfield Hills,
Mich., is the regional chair-
man of an international
committee that has hel ped
to realize a long-cheris ed
dream of Sigmund Freud's
by creating the Sigmund
Freud Chair in Psycho-
analysis at the Hebrew Uni-
versity of Jerusalem. The
chair will be dedicated
Aug. 24 during the Congress
of the International Psycho-
analytic Association in Je-
rusalem.
When the Hebrew Univer-
sity of Jerusalem was found-
ed in 1925, Freud, along
with such men as Albert
Einstein, Chaim Weizmann
and Martin Buber, became
one of its original gover-
nors.
In 1933, when Hitler's
book-burning foreshadowed
the end of free science and
art in Europe, Freud explic-
itly requested that a chair
in psychoanalysis be estab-
lished at what he called
"our university." Anna
Freud, Freud's daughter, is
as honorary chairwoman of
the international drive to
make her father's dream
come true.
