A FAMILY PROBLEM
besets Ethel and Sol Lak-
ind...When somebody asks
how Sue is...it could be
their daughter-in-law Susi,
married to Don, or Suzy,
wed to Barry... In Agusut,
their third son, Arnold, will
be wed...to another Susie!
30TH ANNIVERSARY of
the original crew of the Ha-
gana ship, "Exodus" that
helped create the state of Is-
rael in 1948, will be held in
Tel Aviv Saturday...Harry
Weinsaft, was one of 15 left
who will be there from the
United States and South
America...Original crew of
"Exodus" was 32.
GET WELL WISHES...to
Nash Adelman at Sinai Hos-
pital...to Jack Rosenberg at
New Grace Hospital.
MANY OF Jerry Gur-
win's novel pin stripping
ideas at his Burwin's Auto-
body Klinic on 8 Mile. come
to him while he's sleep
ing...Jerry keeps a pad of
paper with pencil by his
bed, suddenly awakens with
a start, turns on a light and
begins drawing lines...never
kcnowing what he has until
fully awake the next morn-
ing...Some of them are
amazing.
MARCIA STAMWELL,
daughter of Rose and Dr.
Meyer Stamell, will have
an in-depth article per-
taining to the female cadets
at West Point in the August
issue of Ms. maga-
zine...Marcia is a 1966 grad-
uate of Mumford High and
now a feature writer on the
staff of the Bergen Record
in New Jersey.
WHY DO GROUPS have
dinner committees when
the head, for example, goes
on and makes a very big de-
cision without informing the
rest?...Same probably holds
true with other type com-
mittees...When a committee
is appointed, all should
have a say so, especially
co-chairmen if there are
any.
CONGRATS...to Jean and
Jack Kaufman on anniver-
sary number 46...to Julius
"Cookie" Spoon on his 60th
. birthday.
CAN'T UNDERSTAND
why the law isn't enforced
about people parking illegal-
ly in places reserved for
the handicapped...At local
shopping center recently,
people parked there want-
only...with complete dis-
regard for the law...while
those with wheel chairs,
canes, etc. in the trunks
had distances to travel...If
legislators and city policy
had no intention of enforc-
ing this law it never should
have been passed...Seems
kind of ridiculous...The
handicapped people need
these spaces very desper-
ately...don't park in them.
ELI SPRINGER could
write a book...about so
many instances that happen
with him behind the wheel
of his cab...or the time he
had it completely bullet-
proofed according to
law...and somebody threw a
brick through the back win-
dow...or the time he picked
up a fare who told him to
rush her, to the hospi-
tal...Eli broke all records
(and laws) getting her
in...Eli never did get his
fare...and she gave birth to
a baby.
GETTING THEIR chil-
dren together was quite a
job since all were on differ-
ent schedules at varied col-
leges, along with having
part-time jobs...But it was
wife Adele's birthday. and
hubby Harold Samuels was
determined to put it all to-
gether without her knowing
what was going on...Date
and settings of activity was
arranged for a weekend
trip to New York by
all...complete with restau-
rants. theaters and shop-
ping tour...Adele's suprise
birthday was first time in
10 years that the entire fam-
ily had gotten together for
a vacation.
DISA 'N DATA...Ruby
Samson offering coffee at
Elkin Tours, which he man-
ages, and folks still waiting
to get it...Abe Green look-
ing very dapper...Lester
Rosenberg in Las Vegas at
one of the gaming tables
asking for a few thousand
dollars...Fellow asked his
name...Lester said, "No-
body asks My name!"...Pit
boss said, "Give the
money."...Theatrical agent
Lenny Borovy finally giving
us a good cigar...Nice to
see people cooperating by
putting their market bas-
kets where there are no
cars to get banged
up...Senator Daniel Cooper
with the mustache that
offers a look of dis-
tinction...Oppenheimer Co.
new owner of Albert's and
Alcove stores...with Bill Ka-
linsky and Ernest Schwartz
remaining on to head the
companies...Oppenheimer
takes over in Janu-
ary...New state lottery
game will come out in Sep-
tember...May be a bowling
one...Zodiac sign game is
also on the very near future
agenda.
