Friedman, who recently ac-
cepted a position as econom-
ic consultant to the newly
formed government of Is-
rael's Prime Minister Men-
ahem Begin, was awarded
an honorary doctorate from
the Hebrew University of
Jerusalem at its July 4 con-
vocation ceremonies.
Other Americans who re-
ceived honorary doctoral de-
grees were Leonard Davis
of New York and Palm
Beach, philanthropist and
civic leader who dedicated
the Leonard Davis Institute
of International Relations
at the Hebrew University in
1973; Joseph Meyerhoff of
Baltimore, prominent Jew-
ish-American leader; Dr.
D. Walter Cohen zt, dean of
the University of Pennsylva-
nia's school of dental medi-
cine.
Prof. Benjamin Levich, a
Russian scientist and
human rights advocate who
has been denied an exit
visa to Israel, also received
an honorary doctoral de-
gree.

Clubs, which is dedicated to
the theme of "Building Fu-
ture Leadership for World
Jewry," will feature three
international personalities
who will discuss the vital as-

world scene.
The convention to take
Place July 31 - Aug. 4 in
Montreal, will include three
special leadership sessions.
The keynote speakers will
be Rabbi Wolfe Kelman, ex-
ecutive vice president of
the Rabbinical Assembly;
Alan Rose, national execu-
tive vice president, Cana-
dian Jewish Congress; and
Arthur J. Levine, national
president of the United

NEW YORK (JTA)—
More than 300 Jewish young-
sters age 13 and 14, will as-
semble this summer from
10 Jewish camps to partici-
pate in an inter-camp Mac-
cabia, Aug. 1-3, according
to the American Zionist
Youth Foundation.
The inter-camp event,
which will be held at the
New Jersey Y camps in
Lake Como, Pa, is spon-
sored by the AZYF.
The Maccabia will in-
clude scouting and dis-
cussion of Jewish values, in
addition to sports. There
will be a special ceremony
in memory of the slain Is-
raeli athletes.
