I The Best of Everything

Friday, July 15, 1977 25

(Continued from Page 24)
HERE'S THE correct
way to make a brandy
flip...Into an electric mixer
put shaved ice, 11/4 ounces
brandy, 1 whole egg, 1/2 tea-
spoon sugar...Mix at high
speed...Pour into cham-
pagne cocktail
glass...sprinkle with net-
meg.
ALL OF Raleigh House
was closed first weeks of
July to "paint and fix up"
for the late summer and
fall season...This included
catering operation, Pica-
dilly restaurant and Giraffe
Disco.
AN OLD Shakespearean
actor was engaged at a Lon-
don music hall to give trag-
ic readings from Shake-
speare...His reception was
anything but com-
plimentary...When he came
off the stage, he was ap-
proached by a kindly Cock-
ney comedian who had
been watching the perform-
ance from the
wings... "Don't take any no-
tice of 'em," he said sympa-
thetically. "I've been watch-
ing your turn and I think
you're darned funny."

ITALIAN RESTAU-
RANTS to avoid (there are

exceptions) according to
writer Seymour Britchky
"are the ones with the red-
and-white tablecloths,
Chianti bottles with candles
in them, and rotund papa
and mama greeting you at
the door. The table linen is
chosen for its natural con-
cealment of the stains of
this cuisine; the paraffin il-
lumination in discarded-
bottle-bases is the cheapest
atmosphere obtainable; and
the girth of the staff is testi-
mony to their jollity at the
number of locals and vis-
itors who take copiousness
and color for good food."
BIG ATTRACTION in
Oak Park's Major Park
that brings 1,500 to 2,000
folks together for an eve-
ning's entertainment on the
lawn is its new "Concert In
The Park Series"... "People
come by bicycle, in cars
and just walk over for a
beautiful evening's enjoy-
ment," says Councilwoman
Charlotte Rothstein.
Coming concerts include
dixieland, jazz, swing, clas-
sical, barber shop,
etc...They're held every
Tuesday nite at 7:30...excep-
ting Monday, Aug. 1, be-
cause of primaries being
held the next evening.
THOSE WHO LIKE green
pepper will enjoy at item
that ranks high with custom-
ers at Jakks on Greenfield
and 10 Mile...even though
its not on the
menu...chopped sirloin
made with green peppers in-
side and covered galore
with sauteed or fried
onions.
RAY ABRAMS of Cushion
'n Cue in Oak Park will
soon receive the center
table (key one) used at re-
cent World's Three Cushion
Billiard Tournament in
Japan...Truly a collector's
item, it was one of three
tables built by the Japanese
just for the occasion...and
will arrive here probably
next week, in four
crates...weighing
about
2,000 pounds.

Har-
riet and Jack Goldberg do
select gourmet cater-
ing...Recent new home
warming by Bernice and Al
Deutch had about 80 folks
savoring the likes of choco-
late-covered poached pears,
chateaubriand, etc.

and Lisa Kelter (David) is
singing, listen carefully.
She doesn't go it profes-
sionally anymore...just for
kicks now, but anyone can
tell she was no ama-
teur...Her crowd-pleasing
ways, strong virile voice
and handling of the micro-
phone are dead giveaways
to a very fine talent.
