Sam Klar was honored by
more that 80 relatives and
friends June 26 at a brunch
at the Raleigh House cele-
brating his 75th birthday.
The party was given by his
children, Mr. and Mrs.
Dave (Donna) Klar, Dr.
and Mrs. Selwyn (Terry) Fi-
delmand and Mr. and Mrs.
Stan (Ilene) Gittleman, who
participated in a candle-
lighting ceremony in his
honor, and granchildren. A

heard tributes from its offi-

Mr. and Mrs. Hyman Tauber, seated, honorees at the
Cong. Beth Abraham-Hillel tribute dinner on behalf of Is-
rael Bonds, saw more than $138,000 in Israel Bonds sub-
scriptions realized at the event. The Taubers, who will cel-
ebrate their 71st wedding anniversary this summer, re-
ceived the state of Israel's United Jerusalem Award. The
congregation was awarded the state of Israel's Congtega-
tional Award. Shown with the Taubers are, from left,

The United Hebrew
Schools, has appointed
Rabbi Sidney Green as prin-
cipal of the Bnai David-
UHS branch. Rabbi Green
was formerly with congrega-
tions and schools in New-
burgh, N.Y., and Stanford,
Conn. He served on the
staff of the Jewish Center
of Philadelphia.
In addition to his duties
as principal of the UHS
branch, Rabbi Green will
be an instructor in Talmud
at the Akiva Hebrew Day
School. Green will also
serve as editor of Kolenu,
the publication of the
United Hebrew Schools.
The Hebrew Schools has
also arranged for Richard
Wagner, currently principal
of the Bnai Moshe-UHS
branch also to serve as prin-
cipal of the Adat Shalom-
UHS branch.
Wagner will be aided by
two vice principals who
would be promoted from
the ranks of the UHS teach-
ing staff.

Activities

COUPLETS UNIT will
see the film "Star Wars"
7:15 p.m. Saturday at the
Americana Theater.
Couples will meet for din-
ner at 10:15 p.m. at the
Golden Mushroom restau-
rant. There is a charge for
both the film and dinner.

Bell to bring the case
against former Iron Guard
member Archbishop Vale-
rian Trifa of Grass Lake,
Mich., to trial "as speedily
as possible."
Meanwhile, Alvin Kush-
ner, exective director of the
Jewish Community Colin
of Metropolitan Detroit,
turned froth an Anti-Derd-
mation League meeting in
New York this week and re-
ported that the Justice De-
partment will renew financ-
ing of the Trifa in-
vestigation.

Elderly Get Meals

HOLLYWOOD,
Fla.
(JTA)—Dr. Sam Meline,
chairman of the community
planning committee of the
Jewish Federation of South
Broward, said all area resi-
dents over 60 were eligible
to participate in the Holly-
wood Jewish community's
first kosher hot meal pro-
gram.
