Barnes and Co.), a book about the new young directors producing the box office hits of the 1960s and 1970s. _ Receiving her master of fine arts degree from Co lumbia University's film school with honors for her thesis on filmmaker Claude Chabrol, Ms. Jacobs has continued her interest in the motion picture medium by writing screenplays, doing research work at New York's Museum of Modern Art's film study center and reading and eval- uating manuscripts for United Artists. In her book, Ms. Jacobs focuses on the newest dy- namos behind modern film- making: John Cassavetes, Robert Altman, Francis F'ord Coppola, Martin Scor- sese and Paul Mazursky, and offers criticism on their major motion picture productions.
