Steven C. Kushner of Oak
Park was ordained a rabbi
by Hebrew Union College-
Jewish Institute of Religion
at commencement exer-
cises at its Cincinnati
School on Saturday.
Rabbi Kushner is a broth-
er of Rabbi Lawrence Kush-
ner, who was ordained at
the college in 1969 and now
is the rabbi of Cong. Beth
El of Sudbury, Mass.

a summer reading club,
The Lions of Judah, for chil-
dren in elementary school.
Registration will begin
June 20.
Two children's Story
Hour sessions will be held
for children age 4-6. The
groups, open to members
and non-members, will
meet 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays,
beginning June 21, and
10:30 a.m. Fridays, begin-
ning June 24.
The one-hour programs in-
clude arts and crafts and
games. There is a nominal
materials charge. For infor-

The 80th birthday of Meir
Indenbaum of Oak Park, to
be observed June 14, was
celebrated Sunday at. a fam-
ily gathering at the home of
his children, Dr. and Mrs.
Samuel Indenbaum of
Franklin. Attending the af-
fair were his wife, Minnie;
their children, Bernard and
Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Krit-
zer; 14 grandchildren and
seven great-grandchildren.

Sam Klar of Oak Park
will be honored by his chil-
dren at the Raleigh House
June 26 on the occasion of
his 75th birthday. A native
of Russia, Klar came to the
U.S. 57 years ago. He is an
active member of the Pin-
sker Progressive Aid So-
ciety and participates in ef-
forts on behalf of Israel.
