Family Reunited
The daughters of Dr. Vic-
LK Herman joined their fa-
ther in New York on Sun-
day, more than 2 years
after the Detroiter himself
was finally allowed to re-
turn to the U.S.
Herman spent 18 years in
Rusian labor camps after'
going to the Soviet union in
1931 to help build an au-
tomobile factory. It took 20
more years before he was
allowed to return home.
.Svetlana Herman. 25. and
her sister Janna, 20, will
live with their- father in Oak
Park. Although Herrnan
and his wife are divorced,
the\ family hopes to bring
her to the U.S. as well.
