•HAVE YOU HAD A,MINI
'CORNED BEEF SANDWICH

Danny Raskin's

LISTENING
POST

TWO-YEAR-OLD Jona-

thon was at home with dad,
Joel Goldhaber, who wasn't
feeling well...but was repre-
sented at the grand opening
of his namesake store for
men and boys in Evergreen
Plaza by a big cake and
about 150 people...plus his
mother, Jackie.
Jonathon's on 12 and
Evergreen was opened with
class...Beautiful and de-
licious hors d'oeuvres made
by Barbara Ephraim
(Mike) and Sue McElroy
(Larry) in plentiful fash-
ion...and bottles galore of
champagne. -'
So many nice
people...Jonathon's grand-
mother, Lee Schlom, who
looks too young to be one,
wearing a chic pants suit
and so much at ease now
that her store is
open...Joyce Ackner in a
smart denim suit...Ilene
Blake Racklin with her in-
fectious from-the-dia-
phragm laugh... Ben Shech-
ter proudly showing off the
windows he trims and keep-
ing that healthy figure en-
joying plate after plate of
the hors d'oeuvres...Sid Kor-
man looking good with a
face of character these
days...Evelyn Tamaroff
dropping stem from cham-
pagne glass, with hubby Al
on the spot to pick it
up... Bob Russman sharing
his eating with pipe puffing.
Little Jonathon can be
proud of the store named
after him.
SOMETHING NOVEL is
the trading of gifts between
Steve Wolf and his 9-year-
old sister Shelli...His Bar
Mitzva at_Cong. Bnai David
comes up in June and each
are swapping pendants with
their Hebrew names carved
in gold by Shari Cohen at
Tapper's Jewelry, owned
by Susan and Howard Tap-
per, in the Racquetime Cen-
ter, 12 Mile and North-
western...Steve and Shelli
are the children of Marsha
and Harvey Wolf.
FIVE YEARS AGO, Ben
Marcus passed away from
a disease called Amtrophic
Lateral Sclerosis...Now his
daughter Adrianne Levine
(Dr. Jack) has finally got-
ten herself together enough
to organize an ALS Mich-
igan Chapter.
First meeting is 8:15 p.m.
Thursday, at Holiday Inn of
Southfield on Tele-
graph...with membership
open to the public...The
group needs membership,
money and support.
Ben Marcus was a great
guy...this is a wonderful me-
morial to him...Contact Adr-
ianne at 681-0430.
IT'S BEEN A long, tough
struggle for a couple of fine
young men graduating
today from University of
Michigan Medital
School...Douglas Woll, son
of dear friends Lou and
Fay Woll,' and Barry
Rosen, son of sister Lil
Rosen, were top stu-

.

dents...Doug's wife, Margo,
will be a dentist and
Barry's bride-to-be June 12,
Nancy, will be a doctor.
HAROLD ALLEN bought
a tie at J.L. Hudson in
Northland and had trouble
paying cash...Young girl ob-
viously there a short time,
didn't know how to process
the green stuff and asked
Harold if he had a charge
card...But everything came
out okay...Harold got the
tie when she called an older
hand over to help out...and
they took the cash.
HARRY BRODSKY has
been named general chair-
man of the Detroit Business-
men's Group, City of Hope,
Dinner-Dance, Oct. 16, at
the Detroit Plaza...Co-
chairmen with Harry will
be Ron Licht and Herb
Rechter.
It is the only affair of its
kind in the city by in-
vitation only...Lists are
given by the members and
guys 'n gals are sent in-
vites...Those who wish to at-
tend may get their names
on the list by contacting a
member or the City of
Hope office.
REGARDS FROM Sam
Ginsburg in Los Angeles
(400 S. Hauser Blvd.,
90036)...He and wife Yetta
recently celebrated 22nd an-
niversary...Expects to be in
Detroit Oct. 23 for wedding
of niece Laureen Jacobs.
IRON CURTAIN story is
of the family awakening in
terror when a fist pounded
on the door shortiy before
dawn...and then came the
reassuring yoke, "Don't
worry, folks—it's only a
fire."

Controversial
`0 Jerusalem'
Paperbacked

"0 Jerusalem," a con-
troversial volume dealing
with Israeli problems, a
best seller for many
months, has just been is-
sued as a paperback by
Simon and Schuster Pocket
Books.
Larry Collins and Domin-
ique Lapierre stirred consid-
erable discussion over their
approaches to the Middle
East issues and the protests.
were especially over the
alleged failure of the two au-
thors to properly delineate
the events which occasion-
ed the Deir Yassin tragedy.
They had defended their
position, claiming factuality
and asserting that they did
contact the defenders who
maintained that Jews were
lured by false white flag
waving by the Deir Yassin
Arabs into a planned trap,
thus forcing the mass shoot-
ings by the Irgun forces.
In its entirety "0 Jerusa-
lem" received appreciative
commendations for a thorn
ough researching of co 1-
tions affecting the status of
Israel, the struggles with
the Arabs, etc.
