heading out to the West

month.
I know she'll be missed
around the Rolling Oaks
area where they've lived
for the past few years. Joey
says that one of the things
she'll miss most about our
area — besides the nice
people she's gotten to know
— is the Rikshaw Inn.
We've shared many a Chi-

Joey's favorite Chinese res-

have to call them long-dis-
tance to ship her out some
food when she get the urge
for sweet and sour chicken.

10 HAMBURGER GREATS

Is Hollywood returning to
the halcyon days of the
thirties? "Yes, the trend is
there," says Diane Jacobs,
a rising young star in cine-
ma critique.
Her new book, -Holly-
wood Renaissance" (A.S.
Barnes), is destined to be a
standard reference on the
art of the great directors
who have sparked the film-
making renaissance of the
Seventies—men like Altman
(MASH, Nashville) ; Cassa-
vetes (Woman Under The
Influence); Coppola (Godfa-
ther I and II, Conversa-
tion); Mazursky (Harry
and Tonto, Bob and Carol

TEL AVIV (ZINS)—
Rabbi Yehuda Landau, in
charge of marriages and di-
vorces for the Tel Aviv rab-
binate, says there have
been 10 percent fewer mar-
riages this year in Tel
Aviv, and a 20 percent de-
cline nationwide.
He says there is a short-
age of eligible males due to
Yom Kippur War casualties
and male students leaving
the country.

Oil Rumors

TEL AVIV (ZINS)—An Is-
raeli oil expert quashed re-
cent rumors that Israel had
found -vast oil reserves,
Saying that none of the drill-
ings have proven successful
so far.
The rumors triggered a
significant rise in the price
of oil shares on the Tel
Aviv Stock Exchange.

"Hollywood Renaissance"
is written for movie buffs
and students as well as pro-
fessionals. Ms. Jacobs ana-
lyzes the work of the sub-
ject directors, their impact
on the current scene, and
the trend they have set,
pointing to the formulae of
the Thirties, i.e.: good
movies making good
money, with the screenwri-
ters, cinematographers and
producers sharing glory
with the director.
Much of the text is based
on personal interviews, and
the six chapters are illus-
trated with photographs,
plus a comprehensive film-
ography on 42 picutures.
