in the Orchard Lake area
may notice the pretty
blonde who's beeti seen bi-
cycling around lately and
recognized her from the old
"Ironsides" TV series.
Actress Barbara Ander-
son, who is currently ap-
pearing in "Vanities" at the
Fisher Theatre, is sharing a
house on the lake with her
theatrical co-star, Joyce
Bulif ant.
"We just love it!" she
said enthusiastically. "The
house is overlooking the
lake and it's so much nicer
than being stuck in a down-
town Detroit hotel room."

While -they're in the area,
Barbara, Joyce and the
other star, Carrie Snod-
grass, are being wined and
dined royally. They have
been given guest member-
ships to the Franklin Rac-
quet Club, Town & Country
and Vic Tanny.

Barbara is very close to
her stock-broker husband,
Donald Burnett, and this is
the first time they:ye been
separated in six years of
marriage. Barbara more or
less soft-pedaled her -career
after becoming a house-
wife. This play was his
idea, however, and he's al-
ready been out here to visit
once. She expects him_
again near the end of the
run and she hopes to get
home one weekend.
Barbara still feels that
"Ironsides" was the Rolls
Royce of police shows. She
was actually one of the first
lady cops to be a TV star.
"It was really a good
series. Especially the first
couple of years. It was one
of the best series of that
genre on the air at the
time. We had good,
thought-provoking scripts.
"Today the police series
are all macho and violence.
It's not intelligent and psy-
chologically stimulating.
Our show really- worked."

A legend in the folk
world, Joan has had a few
lean years as a performer.
There were two factors
that turned things around
for the singer. One was a
highly successful album
called "Diamonds and
Rust." The other was the
fact that Bob Dylan asked
Joan to join him on his fa-
mous "Rolling Thunder
Revue" tour.
Dylan and Baez have
been close friends for
years. As a matter of fact,
it was Joan Baez who first
introduced the young Dylan
to audiences at the 1963
Newport Folk Festival. She
also took him on the road
with her that summer.

Who was to know that 13
years later, Dylan would be
repaying the favor?
"I know a lot of people
think that I kind of discov-
ered Bob," Joan said. "But
the Way I feel is that he
would have found his way
to the top one way or anoth-
er. It just so happened that
I had a platform where he
could get up and sing.
We're still very good
friends."
