The total was announced Monday evening at a ban- quet at the Plaza Hotel in honor of Martha Griffiths, former Detroit Congress- woman. Dr. Charles May, one of 75 senior scientists and phy- sicians on the hospital's staff of 350 professionals, de- scribed some of the work and research conducted at NJH. The hospital has a $14 mil- lion annual budget, Dr. May said, and has a $27 mil- lion expansion program and children's treatment center under construction. In her remarks, Mrs. Griffiths thanked the hospi- tal for honoring her and cited NJH for its work. Other participants in the program included dinner chairman and co-chairman Robert M. Surdam and Edwin G. Roberts, and Paul S. Mirabito. Rabbi Richard C. Hertz of Temple Beth El gave the invocation and Rev. Mal- colm Carron of the Univer- sity of Detroit gave the ben- ediction.
