We had some regu- lars...antipasto, minestrone, mostoccioli with a very tasty, thick sauce and those delicious thin-sliced po- tatoes. Our entree is not on the menu, but can be or- dered...It's called Filet Sici- liano, and if you want to taste something really su- perb, order it next time you go to Larco's...The excel- lent meat is cooked within a bread crumb batter and every ounce of goodness is retained until the last mouthful of joy. DAVE FEKAY, food and beverage manager at Town & Country Club, and author of the book, "Sensuous Kitchen", is in demand for cooking demonstrations, both within and outside the club...His gourmet nights at T & C on Tuesdays are only by reservation...with Dave's table-side cook- ing, wit and humor sur- passed only by his culinary ability. IF YOU'VE NEVER tasted cooking by Chef Rene Mouttet, there's a big treat in store...He's one of the best and Norm LePage now has him at the Squire's Table on Commerce Rd. in Walled Lake. Rene prepared an ele- gantly delicious poached Dover sole for us, stuffed with crab meat and shrimp...The morney sauce was a happy taste tingler. No meal is so good as when you have a competent waitress...This is a must for joyous dining...We had three of them...Candy In- gham brought a drink, Rose Cawson some coffee and Roberta Brown our din- ner...Roberta has been with the Squire's Table since it opened eight years ago, and is noted for her easy, smil- ing abilities. Chef Rene, working with the existing menu, has al- ready made people double their lip smacks...but noth- ing to what he can do with his own gourmet dishes which will most naturally be on a new menu at Squire's Table. This is a much looked-for- ward-to dining adven- ture...As the second in kitch- en command at famouS Ernie's in San Francisco, and the gent who opened the gourmet room at one of northwest Detroit's leading hotels, Chef Rene Mouttet is tops in culinary exper- tise. THOSE IN THE back who weren't able to see "The Mousetrap" at Bot- sford Inn Dinner Theater opening night, surely missed out on a fine per- formance of this classic mystery whodunnit by Agatha Christie. It is hardly recommended for those who don't like to stand in line or sit at long banquet -tables or be regi- mented toward the sorrow- ful buffet or be served cold coffee...To satisfy a thumbs-down audience be- fore the play begins is an obstacle even the Barry- mores would have found hard to combat.
