Bnai Brith tree salesman,
who sold over 1,200 trees
and himself bought 250
trees, was presented with
an inscription in the Golden
Book of Honor in Jerusalem
by Percy Kaplan, JNF exec-
utive director of Greater
Detroit and Michigan.
Others who received spe-
cial awards were Meyer Lit-
tky, chairman of the Mar-
tyrs Forest Committee;
Segel; Mrs. Robinson; Mrs.
Harold Michaels, chair-
man; Women's Tributes
Committee; and Charles
Fink, Ernest Shaw and Leo
Hack, associate chairmen.
David Bittker, former Co -
cil President and cu
chaplain, pronounced the
vocation.

• The Rabin affair in-
volved a minor crime.
There was no coverup. Is-
rael gave the world an ex-
ample of how to deal with
minor corruption, just as in
Entebbe it gave the world
an example of courage.
St. John declared that Is-
rael has made tremendous
progress in its 29 years and
that her main problem is fi-
nancial "because of the hor-
rible costs of defense."
Louis Segel, past council
president, was the toastmas-
ter and introduced St. John.
Estelle Robinson was co-
chairman. Martin Weston,
president of the Detroit
Bnai Brith Metropolitan
Council and Rhea Rowe,
president of the Women's
Council, were each honored
with the planting of gardens
of trees, while presidents of
all lodges, chapters and
units were presented with
"Chai" certificates. Tree
and tribute chairmen were
cited.
Mark E. Schlussel, presi-
dent of the Metropolitan De-
troit, JNF Council, greeted
the guests and praised the
Bnai Brith for launching its
fifth forest.
