Sisterhood League Will Hold
Its Conference in Kalamazoo

Michigan Branch,
Women's League for Con-
servative Judaism, will
hold its spring conference
Tuesday and Wednesday at
Congregation of Moses,
Kalamazoo.
Conference chairman will
be Mrs. Bernard Whiteman,
assisted by Mrs. Leon
Sears, co-chairman. Regis-
tration chairmen are Mrs.
Louis Redmond and Mrs.
Daniel Weiswasser.
Guest speaker and con-

sultant for the two-day
event will be Frances
Kuris, past president of the
Southwest Branch of the
league. She has been active
in sisterhood and women's
league activities. A past na-
tional vice president, Mrs.
Kuris is a member 'of the
national advisory corn-
mittee of the Torah Fund-
Residence Hall Depart-
ment, the board of educa-
tion and ritual committee
of her synagogue and is ac-
tive in efforts for the Jew-
ish Federation Council of
Los Angeles, Hadassah and
Camp Ramah.
She received the National
Community Leadership
Award of the National Ben-
efactors Society and was
honored by the University
of Judaism with its distin-
guished service award. She
is the education vice presi-
dent for the University
Women of the University of
'Judaism.
The conference will open
with a plenary session fol-
lowed by a presentation,
"Wake-Up," by the Cong.
Ahavas Israel Sisterhood of
Grand Rapids. Workshops
on program and member-
ship and an open forum will
follow.
That evening a banquet
will be held recognizing the
60th anniversary of the
women's league. Mrs. Kuris
will deliver the keynote ad-
dress. Rena Tobes will
chair the program, and
Ronna Rosenbaum will mod-

the Cong. Beth Achim Sis-

Wednesday's schedule
will include morning serv-
ices, breakfast, Torah study
session on "Be Strong and
Very Courageous," con-

tion. Mrs. Kuris will dis-
cuss "How to Change
Things."
Following luncheon, at
which sisterhood presidents
will be honored, Dorothy
Chaiken will conduct a
Torah Fund workshop.

Rabbi Stanley Rosenbaum
of Cong. Bnai Moshe will
speak on "Jews Around 'the
World."
